4 Steps to Better Web Marketing
To develop an online marketing program, there are four basic steps. They include:
Step #1: Develop a Web site that provides useful information.
Online consumers are looking for information, and your Web site needs to satisfy their questions. This does not mean a Web site has to include every drop of information about a product. However, it does mean a relationship with consumers can be developed by providing them with the information they seek. It also means a Web site user is self-qualified as an interested consumer by the time he or she enters a site. Thus, the more targeted and consumer-oriented the content, the more effective a Web site will be.Step #2: Drive traffic to your Web site by promoting it.
Think of a Web site as a store. Yes, consumers may see it while driving by, but unless it is promoted, chances are they will not stop in. To promote your site, create a campaign that combines banner ads, sweepstakes and lots of links from other sites. Do whatever it takes, but a Web site must be advertised to drive customers to it.Step #3: Find out what consumers want by asking them.
Advertisers pay millions to conduct focus groups every year. Marketing on the World Wide Web allows advertisers to hold focus groups in the same room with the sales channel, interactively called a Web site. Allow customers to interact and tell you what they are looking for. Then you can provide them with what they need.Step #4: Use the Web as a first line for sales.
When consumers enter a store, they usually seek information to help them make an informed purchase. Online consumers are no different. Provide users with the information they need to make a choice. Just don't forget to give them the opportunity to actually make a purchase. This means, either drive them into stores to sample a product, provide them with a way to receive more information, or develop online purchasing. Either way, by creating content that helps users learn about and sample products, an ongoing conversation can be developed that will turn consumers into customers.
